Alexey Logunov is a composer and pianist whose works have been performed internationally by ensembles including the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, Unheard-of//ensemble, and Ensemble C Barré. He draws inspiration from a wide array of musical styles, ranging from the emotional depth of late Romanticism to the dynamic energy of progressive rock and heavy metal.
Alexey’s artistic focus centers on the perception of overcrowding and extreme digitization in the modern world, as well as the search for a renewed sense of belonging. Reflecting these themes, Logunov creates immersive soundscapes characterized by dense textures, complex timbres, and the integration of acoustic and electronic media. In his recent works, Alexey also draws inspiration from improvised music, capturing the fluidity of melodic lines and flexibility of rhythm found in these musical settings, and in exploring how these qualities can be translated into written scores.
