
Yeoul Choi (b. 1995) is a Korean composer based in Indiana. Her music draws inspiration from nature, Korean traditions, social issues, and reflections on life and death, with a particular focus on transforming special sonic experiences through a restrained and thoughtful approach.
She earned her B.M. from Yonsei University and her M.M. in Composition from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Choi has received prizes from the JoongAng Music Concours, the Music Association of Korea Competition, the ACL-Korea New Composers’ Competition, the Ninth New Ariel Piano Composition Competition, and the ARTZenter Emerging Composer’s Grant.
Her works have been presented in Korea, New Zealand, Germany, and the United States, including performances at the ACL Festival, the Essen Now Festival, and San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Composition at Indiana University, where she also serves as an Associate Instructor in music theory.
